ICANN第35次（悉尼）会议（4）20和21日二天会议
2009年6月21日（Sunday,21 June 2009），周日（澳大利亚时间）上午8时正，ICANN第35次会议在澳大利亚悉尼市召开。全球用户可以申请在线远程听取会议并参与讨论。下面是ICANN关于这一次会议远程参会的通知（http://www.icann.org/en/announcements/announcement-20jun09-en.htm）：
Register Now for Remote Participation
Live video, audio, presentations and chatroom for Sydney meeting
20 June 2009
Following a very successful experiment with remote participation at the last meeting in Mexico City, we have expanded its use to the main room for the Sydney meeting.
We are using Adobe's Connect software, which allows people to see everything in a particular session on one screen: live video, live audio, a live tran***, a chatroom, and presentation slides updated as they are in the room.
This should provide everyone with the best remote participation we have ever been able to provide -- and we will archive the entire session for later viewing. See http://mex.icann.org/ccnso-sessions for examples of the ccNSO sessions from Mexico City.
In order to get some idea of who is using this new service, you will need to fill in a quick two-minute registration form and then you are free to log in and view all the main sessions.
If you indicate on the registration form, that you are interested in learning more about ICANN's remote participation efforts, we will get back to you, ask for feedback, and supply updates on future events and plans. Thank you and all the best with ICANN 35.

当然，依照惯例，远程参会者参与讨论的排序是最后，决议表决投票则可以与会场参会者等效（前提是：有投票资格）。

这二天的会议有大量的域名业界关注话题，北京时间下午15时36分，来自瑞士的CORE( www.corenic.org )Werner在Skype告诉笔者：I am in the ICANN meeting in Sydney, listening to the GNSO-GAC session，15时41分告诉笔者：right now they are talking about meaningful representations of country names。笔者请他帮忙拍些会议照片发给我，他说今天忘了带相机，最后用iphone手机拍下这张会场照片（他说会场太黑、拍照效果不太好），不过，这是笔者本系列的第一张相片，感谢Werner！

Werner Staub现任互联网注册商互联网委员会（简称CORE协会）执行委员会常设秘书处负责人兼执行委员会副主席。CORE协会为国际性的注册服务机构协会，经批准可从事新顶级域名（TLD）宣传、顶级域名公信力管理以及域名管理资源共享等方面工作。Werner Staub同时也是Axone服务与开发公司（Axone Services & Développement SA）的合伙创办人兼总裁，该公司位于瑞士日内瓦，为CORE协会会员单位。
Werner Staub在CORE协会主要负责新顶级域名项目的技术系统和政策方面事务。CORE协会主要关注不同领域的顶级域名，包括语言和文化领域的顶级域名（lcTLD）、城市顶级域名和金融顶级域名。Werner Staub曾负责CORE协会.cat（2006年发布）、.aero（2002年发布）、和.museum（2002年发布）等域名的申请和发布工作，领导CORE协会秘书小组的工作，该小组主要处理CORE协会中间注册渠道，是连接多个顶级域名注册机构和CORE会员系统的桥梁。
在校期间Werner Staub曾在IBM瑞士公司实习，从事信息技术方面工作。毕业后选择从事银行和金融业，进入瑞士信贷内审部。之后在塞浦路斯利马索尔担任信贷评级银行监管服务高级分析员。Werner Staub自1988年起担任国际金融与商品协会（IFCI）金融培训软件开发小组组长。1991年该小组顺利重组并创立Axone公司，专门为各金融机构提供信息技术与语言方面的服务。Axone公司是较早采用互联网技术的公司，并于1997年加入CORE，为CORE创会会员之一。
Werner Staub于1985年毕业于洛桑大学高级商业研究学院（HEC）经济学专业。1992年获该学院商务信息系统硕士学位。
